Simply put e-commerce is the buying and selling of goods on the internet.
Some do spell it differently, such as ecommerce but it is still the same thing.
Why is e-commerce important for my business?
The numbers do speak for themselves, it is important – but why is it so important.
Why it’s important right now:
Consumer spending plunged by a record 16.4% in April, but one category saw a bounce: nonstore retailers. Included in this category, which saw an 8.4% month-over-month increase, is online shopping.

The above numbers are for the United States of America. But think about this: as the current world situation unfolded more and more people took to ordering products online, many people did so for the first time. Expect to see big jumps in e-commerce spending for a long time into the future (and don’t be left behind).
If you have any product or service, you are able to sell it online – and the potential number of customers that you open your idea / product / service up to is far greater than setting up a stall on a street could deliver.
You definitely don’t need to be a big corporate company with millions of dollars to spend on setting yourself up. The barrier to entry – or cost and time needed to get everything set up – is really low, especially if you choose the right web design and development partner. Anyone can get into selling online.
What does it take to get my business setup for e-commerce?
